Scots Wha hae

August 2013 —

20 x 24

oil on canvas

This painting was inspired from the Robert Burns poem about William Wallace who fought for Scotland’s independence from England. When I traveled to Scotland and witnessed the misty atmosphere encompassing all the ancient castles where the clans resided, I remembered the poem Scots Wha Hae , meaning Scots where here. The feeling of their spirit and their cause on the very ground that I stood on was evocative.
